This is my first time dehydrating food, so I didn’t know til I spoke with cust service that this model needs air to blow up around sides of trays, not just the middle. I had incorrectly put parchment covering all the way up sides, then cut hole in the middle of parchment to match the trays’ hole. My food pieces are less than 1/4” thick (hence why I’m using parchment), and only the bottom tray has shown any signs of dehydration after 9 hrs. Now that I know this little nugget of knowledge, so far, so good with the machine.

I’ve used parchment paper in my dehydrator to make 3 racks of banana chips, but today I’ve made 5 racks of chips. The motor is turning itself off and on. Does using paper make this happen? Is the motor over-heating? Thank you.
It’s nothing to do with the parchment paper. Check the motor and electrical components of the dehydrator.
As my trays have slots in them do I need to cut Slits into the parchment paper throughout or in order to maximize drying time and or to improve air circulation?

Apart from parchment paper placement then it’s not required. Parchment paper can handle high temperatures and does not block too much dehydrator fan’s airflow.
